Tyler Fitzgerald: Music

Whether there are instruments involved or not, Tyler Fitzgerald has always had a love for all things music. Read his #PassionPreview: “My passion is music! I’ve been passionate about music ever since I was little. I got my first guitar when I was 4 and started taking actual lessons at age 9, and I’ve been singing my whole life. I’ve now been playing guitar for 10 years and am a part of a collegiate a cappella group called the Ramifications of VCU (Ramifications of VCU), and we actually just got our acceptance to compete in the International Competition of Collegiate Acapella (ICCA’s) this February!”

Why music? “I love music because it’s the greatest escape from life. During the worst times in high school, music was what got me through it. It’s also a great way to meet lifelong friends, as I’ve done through my a cappella group. Our mutual love of music is what brought us together, but we’re now a huge family and I couldn’t feel more grateful to do what I love every day with my best friends.”

To someone not interested in music: “To each their own, but I can’t imagine a world without music. My life would feel so empty.”

To someone interested in getting started in music: “Do it! Getting started is the hardest part. Some instruments are easier to play than others, but with practice and the drive to improve, anything is possible!”
