Jake Dean Taylor: Acting

Some people like to act up…. but in a good way! @jakedeantaylor describes his love for the stage and the camera in his #PassionPreview: “My passion is acting! I got into acting when I was around 6 years old. I was a really high energy kid, but didn’t want to play sports. So my dad told me to act like my cat was stuck in a tree and to ask for help. I did. He immediately put me in acting classes and I’ve been pursuing it ever since.”

Why acting? “There are too many reasons to count. It’s like getting to play pretend all the time. You get to live in another life. Be bold. You get to make a difference in someone’s life. Affect someone enough to bring them to tears. Make them forget their troubles. And you can use it to make an important statement or stand up to a broken system.”

To someone not interested in acting: “That’s okay! It’s not for everyone.”

To someone interested in acting: “It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and self confidence. Network. Network. Network. Trust in yourself and, more importantly, show yourself love. It’s a road full of rejection. Develop a tough skin and know you have something to offer. If you aren’t sure what that is, then do some soul searching. What do you believe in?”
