Hannah Carroll: Fashion

A passion for (you guessed it) fashion. This stylish #PassionPreview comes from Hannah Carroll, who knows how to dress for any occasion: “Fashion. I have loved it ever since I was a child. Starting in second grade I would fake sick days to stay home from school and stay in bed and design clothes & store models. I then proceeded, in middle school, to learn how to sew. This led to me making clothes and learning about, and shortly after, participating in costume design. I continued this in high school and apprenticed under a fashion designer and her fashion week in a large city. I took fashion classes and studied art.”

Why fashion? “It’s beautiful. I love art and all of its forms. However I think it is so cool that fashion is an essential part of society, whether it be gorgeous pieces or not, but it is still fashion at the end of the day. Fashion is beautiful wearable art.”

To someone not interested in fashion: “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however, it is a huge industry. Additionally, it is part of one’s basic needs- along with food, water and shelter.”

To someone interested in fashion: “Read books, do research on the internet about designers and trends; there is so much that goes into the industry- it is so multidimensional. Take classes at a local art center or art museum. Learn how to sew.”
